The Environmental Management Bureau – Region I (EMB-I) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) under the leadership of Regional Director, Engr. Maria Dorica Naz-Hipe, formally received its ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) certification from Worldwide Quality Assurance Asia Pacific (WQA APAC) in a virtual awarding ceremony on March 8, 2021. EMB-Region I has maintained its ISO 9001:2015 certification since 2017.
Ms. Windiasari Paravani, Customer Relations Officer of WQA Jakarta, Indonesia, awarded the ISO 9001:2015 certification to Regional Director Hipe via video conferencing. EMB-Region I passed the recertification audit conducted by WQA APAC on December 14 and 18, 2020.
Regional Director Hipe expressed her gratitude to WQA APAC and assured them that the ISO 9001:2015 certification is a testament to EMB-Region I’s commitment to public service. “Our actions do not stop at this QMS certification. We intend to pursue integrated certification in the field of environmental management system and occupational health and safety,” said Regional Director Hipe.
The online awarding ceremony was witnessed by Environmental Monitoring and Enforcement Division Chief Engr. Antonio Estrada, Clearance and Permitting Division Chief Engr. Nicanor Esteban, Finance and Administrative Division OIC-Chief and EMB-I Quality Management Representative (QMR) Engr. Remedios Jimenez, and section and unit chiefs.
