EMB-I has 48 Adopt-an-Estero partners from LGUs, NGOs, academe and business sector to date.

The Adopt-an-Estero/Water Body Program was launched in 2010 in response to the continuing mandamus by the Supreme Court for agencies led by the DENR to clean up Manila Bay, particularly the esteros and waterways. It is a collaborative undertaking between and among the Estero Community, Donors/Partners, Local Government Units, Government Agencies and the DENR in order to achieve a cleaner, safer and healthier environment. The Program was later expanded to other Regions in the country after the success of its initial implementation in the Manila Bay Regions.
