Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) โ€“ Region I in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) – I Regional Strategic Communication and Initiatives Group (RSCIG) took part in the Department of Educationโ€™s โ€œBrigada Eskwelaโ€ in Rimos National High School, Luna, La Union on August 26, 2022 by conducting an information, education and communication (IEC) drive on ecological solid waste management.

Environmental Monitoring Officer (EnMO) Prince Jay Santiago presented the salient features of Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000. He also discussed the types and sources of solid waste, segregation at source, establishment of materials recovery facility (MRF), small scale composting in households and schools, and the roles of the local government unit in the implementation and enforcement of RA 9003.

The IEC activity was actively participated by 110 Supreme Student Government officers, senior high students, and faculty members of the said school.

On behalf of EMB-I Regional Director, Engr. Maria Dorica Naz-Hipe, Information Officer II Alberto P. Sotelo, Jr. of the Environmental Education and Information Unit (EEIU) turned over IEC materials to Rimos National High School Principal Rodel O. Miniano.
