The DENR-Environmental Management Bureau through its Ambient Monitoring and Technical Services Section conducted an on-site training on water quality monitoring and sampling for the Sinocalan-Dagupan River System – Water Quality Management Area (SDRS-WQMA) partner local government units of Sta. Barbara, Binalonan, and Urdaneta City, Pangasinan on August 25, 2022 at the water sampling stations in the said LGUs.
The said training aims to provide technical assistance to partner LGUs in conducting water quality sampling and monitoring within the SDRS-WQMA in line with the preparation and implementation of the Mandanas-Garcia ruling.
Engr. Eugene C. Ventura, Environmental Management Specialist II, and Mr. Alvic V. Deleña, Technical Support Staff, trained the SDRS-WQMA member LGUS on how to use and operate the on-site Water Quality Checker and how to record the data measured by the said equipment. Parameters monitored during the on-site training were the potential of hydrogen (pH), dissolved oxygen (DO), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), total suspended solids (TSS), temperature (°C), color, chloride (Cl), nitrate (NO3-), phosphate (PO43-), and Fecal Coliform (FC).
