The Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System and GAD Core Group of the DENR-Environmental Management Bureau–Region I convened for the first quarter GAD meeting on February 11, 2020 at the EMB-I Finance and Administrative Division extension office, DENR Building, Government Center, Sevilla, City of San Fernando, La Union.
To ensure sustainability of GAD programs and activities in EMB-I, the Focal Point System and Core Group reviewed the Annual GAD Plan and Budget for calendar year 2020 and discussed the tentative schedule of GAD activities this year. Part of the EMB–I GAD Activities for 2020 are quarterly meeting of GAD Focal Point System, participation in the celebration of Women’s Month, maintenance of breastfeeding corner, conduct of Annual Orientation on Magna Carta/Violence against Women and their Children for employees, conduct of GAD Planning and Budgeting training, participation in RAGE–I activities, conduct of environmental education with gender-sensitivity training and Anti-Violence against Women and their Children Act of 2004, and conduct of GAD session during the Water Quality Management Area Summit.
Over a hundred EMB-I employees will participate in the Women’s Month kick–off activity organized by the Region 1 Advocates for Gender Equality (RAGE) on March 6, 2020 at the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University–Mid La Union Campus, City of San Fernando, La Union. The kick–off activity will include “Sama–sama para sa Zumba,” “GADvocacy Talk,” and Health and Wellness Fair dubbed “Serbisyo para kay Juan at Juana.”
